Emmanuel Tabernacle
Greetings In The Wonderful Name
of God the Father;
and Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The Lord has
truly blessed us since our humble beginning
in 1993. Many souls have been added to the church
(Acts 2:36-47) and many new members have come
into the "Unity of the Faith".
(Acts 19:1-6 - Ephesians 4:13)
We are excited
about what God has done through this ministry
in such a relatively short period of time. It
is with great joy that I say, "Despite
the efforts of Satan to kill, steal and to destroy,
(John 10:12), we, the members of Emmanuel Tabernacle,
have been steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding
in the work of the Lord. (1 Cor. 15:58), both
naturally as well as spiritually.
In 1985, Elder
Goldsmith approached his pastor, Suffragan Bishop
Charles W. Meadows in regards to starting a
church in the Northwest area of Oklahoma City.
He was advised by his pastor to wait five years.
In April of
1993, with the approval of the Executive Board
of the Oklahoma State Council of the PAW, he
was granted approval to embrace the call to
start and to pastor Emmanuel Tabernacle.
Emmanuel’s humble
beginning was in the home of Pastor Goldsmith
with his wife, Regina and their immediate family.
With a shortage
of manpower and finances, Emmanuel rented a
little storefront located at 8801 North Western
Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. District Elder
Goldsmith was working a full-time, eight hour
job while performing his job as a full-time
pastor. He and his brother Vernon were able
to completely remodel the building.
On Thursday,
May 20, 1993, he, along with his immediate family,
a devoted mother, the Late Frankie Goldsmith,
sisters, Alice, Carol and Janice, were glorifying
God and thanking Him that he had allowed them
to see this special day, the inaugural service
for Emmanuel Tabernacle. The Honorable Bishop
Vanuel C. Little of the State of Oklahoma, officiating.
That was a wonderful
beginning, but the Lord had more. He kept adding
to the church. There were many without transportation.
Pastor Goldsmith had a burden for individuals
to have a means of transportation to church.
His choice was to trade-in his personal vehicle
for a new
church van. This of course meant that he had
to catch the City bus to work. That's exactly
what he did.
In three years,
the church had out grown its second home. In
February of 1996, Emmanuel moved to 8200 North
Classen Boulevard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
There they were able to lease two suites and
later increased to three. The Honorable Bishop
Vanuel C. Little was called once again to dedicate
the new building. Excitement has always been
in the air.
After four years,
Emmanuel had exceeded the seating capacity at
this location. Time to move again!
On Saturday, May
20, 2000, The Honorable Bishop Vanuel C. Little
was called on once again for the dedication
service. Each move took Emmanuel a little higher.
Our new home is a beautiful church with plenty
of classrooms, gymnasium, and fellowship hall.
TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY. Special thanks
to Dr. Tharon H. Daniels, District Superintendent
of the Northwest District of the Church of the
Nazarene.
Emmanuel Tabernacle is a Bible based, Bible
believing, full-gospel, Apostolic church, with
emphases on the family and it is a part of the
Kingdom of God.
The Lord has blessed us with a diverse, multi-cultured
church that ministers to all ages. It has over
20 ministries and auxiliaries and is yet growing.
It is designed to meet the needs of this complex
21st generation.
The Lord’s blessings continues to filter through
the tabernacle. We have witnessed a number of
healing miracles, hundreds receiving the water
baptisms in the name of Jesus Christ and hundreds
receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.
There have been numerous marriages and testimonials
of how God has blessed on the job, receiving
promotions, raises, buying homes, starting new
businesses and testimonials of marriages being
mended and families coming back together through
this ministry.
Our concern therefore must not only be for
those who remain in our house, but also for
those who have left their homes, those in quest
for identity and those who have not found a
place to call home.
In the church
of this hour, each person has an important role
to play; therefore, we cannot put enough emphases
on the "Value of Communication and Personal
Involvement".
We are taking
our mission at Emmanuel outside of the church
doors and we are allowing the world to witness
our sense of purpose to everything we do. Despite
the many problems facing the world today, the
church has arrived at its finest hour. We can
handle the demands placed on us. (God being
our helper.)
